Belle River-On the Lake BIA Tree Lighting Celebration 2016

The Belle River BIA hosted the annual BIA Tree Lighting Celebration at the Optimist Park on Saturday, Dec 3, 2016.  A number of activities were available for the families of Lakeshore to participate in S’More Making, Singing Christmas Carols with Gillian Marshall and even dancing with Encore Performance Company!  Gentlemen from the Sun Parlour Chorus gathered at the park to sing their hearts out and welcome Santa.

The Belle River Girl Guides were selling cookies and organising a craft for the kids in Santa’s tent.  Lakeshore Firefighter brought Santa in a fire truck to the park as we did not have enough snow on the ground for a safe landing.

A special thank you to all the volunteers who helped out as well as the Belle River Optimist Club who serviced up over 600 cups of steaming hot chocolate.  This will be the last year for the club to participate as they have all retired and passed on the equipment to the Belle River Lions Club for next year.

Volunteers also served up warm organic apple cider from Foodland , hand made cookies from Little Sweets, 500 tim bits and 80 cups of Timmies coffee as well as 100 bags of Poppers Kettlecorn!

Donations of money and food items were collected for the Belle River and area Goodfellows.
